Drumset Cymbal Basics: Selection, Set-up, Care and Teaching Resources

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

SABIAN’s session will assist band director attendees in getting off the ground with knowledge about drumset and cymbals. Joe Bergamini, SABIAN Education Consultant and pro drummer, will discuss the basics of teaching your students to begin to play in the most common rock and jazz styles used in school band situations—including quick tips to get a drum student to sound good right away, and how to properly set up your cymbals in the drumset. Nick Petrella, SABIAN Director of Education, will explain the basics of selecting cymbals, their anatomy and sound, and how to use and care for them in the classroom environment.

Dr. Petrella and Mr. Bergamini will also be available to take related questions from band directors on topics related to their programs: Dr. Petrella has composed for and performed with symphonies worldwide, while Mr. Bergamini has performed in over a dozen Broadway productions.
