Modern Band 101 Training for New Teachers

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Haven't attended a Little Kids Rock training yet? This full-day workshop is a prerequisite for attending the remaining Rockfest breakout sessions.

MB 101 is a hands on workshop which serves as an introduction to Modern Band and the Music as a Second Language pedagogy.  This session covers the basic core values of Little Kids Rock; how we teach improvisation and composition by getting our students into a comfort zone.  We do that by using student centered instruction, approximation, and scaffolding.  These are all basic tenets of Music as a Second Language.  Participants are introduced to the instruments of Modern Band and will learn the basics of guitar, keyboard, drums, vocals, bass, and technology.  Participants will also use their new musical skills to compose and perform an original song.
