The bass is the heart and soul of the modern band, a solid foundation to any song, and learning to play the bass is easy and fun!

In this session, participants will learn basic and intermediate techniques (including slap bass), read and perform bass charts, and compose bass lines in an exciting bass jam format. Teachers will gain valuable and practical insights into the world of bass playing that they can take back to the classroom and enhance their students’ ability.
Whether you are new to bass, looking to brush up on your technique, or just want to take your students’ bass skills to the next level, you won’t want to miss this breakout session!

Alex is the Director of Instrumental Music at Pacoima Middle School and has been teaching for LAUSD since 2004. Alex is an alumnus of the acclaimed Hamilton Music Academy in Los Angeles and performed with his jazz combo in some of LA’s legendary jazz clubs.
