Technology in the modern band classroom can enliven your instruction and support student learning.  Wouldn’t it be great if, at the touch of a button, you could show a video, project a song chart, or change the key of a song to make it easier to play?  This session will explore resources already available to you, both through Little Kids Rock and on the Internet, as well as show how to make your own resources and song charts using applications such as PowerPoint and Word. We will explore websites such as Ultimate Guitar for songs/chords, and will use Audacity to change the key of a song.  Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, although it isn’t required.

I've been teaching music since 1995, and I still love what I do! I adore teaching modern band. I'm grateful to LKR and its community for being there for me. My main area of expertise is choir and general music. When I'm not planning my next lesson, I like to read, hang out with the family, and go for hikes with my two dogs.

I am a third grade teacher in Los Angeles. I have been teaching for 18 years, seven with Little Kids Rock. I was part of the first modern band training sponsored by Dr. Phil (he's really tall). I teach classes emphasizing guitar, ukulele, or keyboard (thanks to Rockfest last year). I have been teaching ukulele for five years, and I love it! It is a great introductory instrument. I love most modern music from rock to rap to pop to punk.
